چکیده
The paper introduces a new protocol for wireless cellular networks by combining a time reservation scheme with a dynamic space reservation scheme. The proposed new protocol, known as the Space and Time Reservation Multiple Access (STRMA) protocol, does not use a fured reuse pattern but allows a dynamic reservation of bandwidth in both time and space. The performance of this protocol found by simulation is compared with the performance of a cellular network that uses PRMA with a fued frequency reuse pattern. It is found that for homogenous traffic STRMA offers improved performance over a wide range of traffic loads. For inhomogenenous traffic the improvement is even more pronounced.

THROUGHPUT ANALYSIS OF PACKET RESERVATION MULTIPLE ACCESS PROTOCOL FOR WIRELESS COMMUNICATIONS - Personal, Indoor and Mobile Radio Communications, 1994. 'Wireless Networks - Catching the Mobile F
Recently, a packet reservation multiple access (PRMA) protocol was proposed for wireless communications. It can improve the system capacity by extracting the active terminals while they are in silent state. D. J. Goodman has analyzed the system by using the equilibrium point analysis (EPA). However, this method possibly generates multiple stable equilibrium points in high load condition. The ex...

Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) is a promising physical layer technology which potentially enables low power and high rate devices with applications for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) and for Wireless Body Area Networks (WBANs). The UWB technology considered in this paper, called MultiBand UWB, is based on Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM). Any physical layer technology requires ...

First Person Shooter (FPS) games are a popular online gaming genre played predominately over wired networks. FPS games are highly interactive and have stringent delay requirements. However, the explosive growth in wireless LAN (WLAN) deployment has seen an increase in the use of such networks for gaming purposes. The varied performance of the IEEE 802.11 MAC Distributed Coordination Function (D...

In this paper, we present a self sufficient and distributed localization algorithm for wireless sensor networks that does not require any external infrastructure support to estimate sensor node coordinates. Our algorithm uses measured inter-node distances and localizes the entire network in a local coordinate system upto a global translation, rotation and reflection. Using TOSSIM simulations, w...

For a specific high-throughput wireless local area network system based on OFDM we study the sum rate of multiple access with time multiplexing or superimposed transmission (TDMA, SUP). In allocating resources we consider a minimum granularity, i. e., size of the smallest unit that a user can be allotted. We further assume packet switched traffic with most traffic carried by only a few large pa...
